Foal Freedom & Yearling off to Work

Posted 9/12/2024

Our 2024 foals have both been weaned and are out in the field together enjoying their freedom from Mum who likewise is probably also doing the same without the kid bothering her!

After my annual trip to the Tattersalls December Mare Sale I popped in at Manor House Farm Stud (MHFS) to see how they were all getting on and take a few snaps. We bought Going For Gold in 2011 from The Royal Studs and she has done well for us with 3 winners from 6 runners including Listed placed and 100 rated Chicadoro as well as RPR100 rated 3 time winner Kaanoon. Her other winner was Be Fair who won 5 times. Currently she is in foal to Mohaather and has a Lope Y Fernandez filly foal. This foal has plenty of size and scope and is coming along well.

She was unraced and to date has had a 2023 filly by Dream Ahead and a 2024 colt by Bated Breath. The yearling filly is currently at Ivy House Farm with Matt & Jane Smith going through her breaking in work. After that we expect to send her to a trainer around the end of January. At the moment we favour a UK trainer as she is GBB qualified.

Rocadora's 2024 colt foal by Bated Breath is our ninth foal by that sire and as 7 or the previous 8 have won including G3 placed Ekhtiyaar and G2 winner Gift List, we are hopeful that he will continue the form.
