Daunt Rock (by Rock Of Gibraltar 2010) at the Tattersalls Breeding Stock Sale when she was in foal to Tagula. The resulting filly foal has been named Tallulah Rocks and was trained by Jonathan Portman under the ownership of the Daunt Rock Partnership.
We boughtDaunt Rock herself did not run but her dam Marie De Blois won a couple of races in Germany and was listed placed. By Barathea Marie De Blois has had five winners from eight foals of racing age and seven to run. By far her best progeny has been Sakhee colt Shujoon (first foal) who won a listed race in France and was also Group 2 placed. Of a couple of half sisters to Daunt Rock who have been to the sheds, year younger Sakhee mare Mi Vida Loca also had her first foal in 2014, a Casamento colt.
Marie De Blois has a full sister called Movie Star who has had twelve foals of racing age and seven winners. Like her sister, her best runner to date has been her first foal Golden Accolade, who achieved black type via a listed place in France and is now a broodmare in the US. Movie Star's second foal Lauren Louise, by Tagula, had a very moderate racing career but has been the star of the family by producing high class black type geldings Bogart and Blaine from her four foals to run to date. Indeed Blaine won the Group 2 Gimcrack over 6f at two. Bogart has a four year old full sister who was in training with Edward Lynam called Sweet Coconut but she never ran and was covered in 2016 by Harbour Watch before being sold at Tattersalls December Sale for 40,000 guineas. Lauren Louise's three year old Fastnet Rock filly called Rocana sold at Book 1 of the Tattersalls Yearling Sale for 320,000 guineas to Hugo Lascelles and is in training with John Gosden. Lauren Louise then has a 2016 filly by Lope De Vega and was covered by exciting sire Muharaar in 2016.
Rassvet, and made an encouraging debut at Chantilly in France when a close up fifth in a decent maiden. This is a speedy family and we are excited about "Daunt's" prospects in adding to its success. She foaled a colt by Sepoy in April 2016 and a colt foal by Harbour Watch in April 2017 and is now in foal to Group 1 winner Outstrip. Daunt Rock's first two offspring, Tallulah Rocks and a Bahamian Bounty three year old colt, are both three quarters related in blood to Lauren Louise and Bogart respectively and hopefully some of their magic rubs off! The Bahamian Bounty colt is also bred on the same cross as Breton Rock who is by Bahamian Bounty out of a Rock Of Gibraltar mare, is rated 113 and won the Group 2 Park Stakes at Doncaster in Sept 2016. The Bahamian Bounty colt is now in the Czech Republic, is called
In August 2017 we sold Daunt Rock to The Golden Horse Stud & Bloodstock company as part of our on-going management of broodmare numbers and to make space for Going For Gold's daughter Aureana who will be covered for the first time in 2018. Good luck to her and to new connections!
